Vietnam 2017/18 coffee harvest forecast rising to 29.9 mln bags

 Monday, December 4,2017

AsemconnectVietnam - Following are selected highlights from a report issued by a U.S. Department of Agriculture attache in Vietnam:

Post estimate the production of green bean coffee in marketing year (MY) 2016/2017 at 26.7 million bags (Green Bean Equivalent) and forecast for MY 2017/2018 at 29.9 million bags.

For export, Post estimates Vietnam exports at about 25 million bags of green coffee beans in MY 2016/17, due to limited production. The MY 2017/18 green bean export is forecast at 25.5 million bags, due to a good local harvest.

Adequate rains throughout the rainy season have increased the prospect of a good coffee crop in MY 2017/2018. Both production and quality are generally higher than in MY 2016/2017. Additionally, adequate water supply is renewing hope for an expected bumper crop in MY 2018/2019.
