Vietnam – APEC trade exchange: Vietnam got surplus

The trade exchange between Vietnam and APEC member countries totaled US$ 265.31 billion in the first ten months of this year, increased by 17.4 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, Vietnam exported US$ 120.48 billion worth of goods to and imported $ 144.83 billion worth of goods from APEC countries.
So the country got $ 24.36 billion of deficit in trade exchange with APEC member countries, equal to 20.2 per cent of the country’s total exports to APEC.
In the first ten months of this year, China was leading the list of trade partners of Vietnam in APEC with the total bilateral trade exchange of $ 73.3 billion, up by 27.2 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 27.6 per cent of the total.
South Korea followed with $ 50.46 billion, up by 41.9 per cent; and then the U.S - $ 42.12 billion, up by 9.7 per cent; Japan -$ 27.11 billion, up by 11.8 per cent
In the first ten months of this year, the U.S was the country’s biggest export market of Vietnam in APEC with the export turnover of $ 34.53 billion, up by 9.6 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 28.7 per cent of the total. It was followed by China with $ 26.47 billion, up by 52.9 per cent; Japan - $ 13.85 billion, up by 16 per cent; and South Korea - $ 12.15 billion, up by 28.6 per cent.
The major commodities exported by the country to APEC member countries were: cell phones and accessories - $ 19.01 billion, up by 48 per cent; textiles and garments - $ 17.51 billion, up by 9.3 per cent; computers, electronics and components - $ 15.41 billion, up by 41.1 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 8.07 billion, up by 25 per cent; footwear of all kinds - $ 7.39 billion, up by 15.2 per cent; wood and furniture - $ 5.35 billion, up by 12.6 per cent.
China was the country’s biggest import market in APEC with the import value of $ 46.83 billion, up by 16.1 per cent, and accounted for 32.3 per cent of the total. It was followed by South Korea with $ 38.3 billion, up by 46.7 per cent; Japan - $ 13.27 billion, up by 7.6 per cent.
The major commodities imported by Vietnam from APEC member countries included computers, electronics and components with $ 29.16 billion, up by 35.5 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 24.09 billion, up by 24.4 per cent; cell phones and accessories - $ 12.73 billion, up by 49.2 per cent; fabrics of all kinds - $ 8.97 billion, up by 8.6 per cent; iron and steel of all kinds - $ 6.5 billion, up by 6.4 per cent.

Japan – one of the leading export market of Vietnam in APEC
Vietnam exported US$ 13.85 billion worth of goods to Japan in the first ten months of this year, increased sharply by 15.9 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Textiles and garments were leading the list of 40 items exported by the country to Japan in the first ten months of this year with the export turnover of $ 2.51 billion, up by 5.8 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 18.2 per cent of the total.
It was followed by means of transport and spare parts with $ 1.77 billion, up by 14 per cent; and machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 1.41 billion, up by 10 per cent.
In the first ten months of this year, the exports of iron and steel to Japan rocketed by 287 per cent year – on – year to $ 20.18 million; crude oil – up by 154 per cent to $ 320.03 million; cell phones and accessories – up by 122 per cent to $ 720.68 million; fertilizer of all kinds – up by 121.4 per cent to $ 2.25 million.
However, the exports of ores and minerals to Japan decreased by 15.12 per cent; pepper – down by 29.6 per cent; technical fabrics – down by 9.5 per cent; and ordinary metals – down by 9.2 per cent year – on – year.
