In the period, the bilateral trade exchange between the two countries reached $ 6.2 billion. Of the figure, Vietnam exported $ 2.2 billion worth of goods to, and imported over $ 4 billion worth of goods from Singapore.

Petroleum was leading the list of items imported by the country from Singapore in the first nine months of this year with 3.4 million tons worth of $ 1.7 billion, up by 7.09 per cent in quantity and 34.62 per cent in value over the same period last year.

It was followed by computers, electronics and components with $ 567 million, down by 32.89 per cent; and then machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 261.8 million, down by 11.46 per cent.

In the first nine months of this year, the country’s imports of ordinary metals from Singapore increased sharply by 179.46 per cent year – on – year to $ 6.4 million while the imports of ores and minerals – up by 170.06 per cent to $ 2.6 million; and plastic products – up by 153.84 per cent to $ 33 million.
