Farm exports estimated at US$ 10.89 billion
Tuesday, August 22,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of farm products were estimated at US$ 10.89 billion in the first seven months of this year, increased by 18 per cent over the same period of 2016.
The exports of several items were as followed:
Rice: Vietnam’s exports of rice were estimated at 465,000 tons worth of US$ 201 million in July and 3.3 million tons worth of $ 1.5 billion in the first seven months of this year, increased by 15.7 per cent in quantity and 13.7 per cent in value over the same period last year.
The average rice export price in the first six months of this year was $ 444.6 per ton, down by 1.4 per cent year – on – year.
China was still leading the list of Vietnam’s major rice export market in the first six months of this year with the market share of 43.6 per cent. The country’s exports of rice to China reached 1.23 million tons worth of $ 557 million, up by 35.6 per cent in quantity and 33.1 per cent in value year – on – year.
The Philippines ranked second with 8.1 per cent of the total market share. The country’s exports of rice to the Philippines in the first six months of this year reached 267,600 tons worth of $ 103.8 million, up by 38.4 per cent in quantity and 25.9 per cent in value over the same period of 2016.
Coffee: Vietnam’s exports of coffee were estimated at 106,000 tons worth of $ 242 million in July and 937,000 tons worth of $ 2.12 billion in the first seven months of this year, down by 16.4 per cent in quantity but up by 7.9 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
The average coffee export price in the first six months of this year was $ 2,262.8 per ton, up by 30.4 per cent year – on – year. Germany and the U.S were the country’s biggest coffee export markets of Vietnam in the period with the market shares of 16 per cent and 14.3 per cent, respectively.
Tea: Vietnam’s tea exports were estimated at 12,000 tons worth of $ 21 million in July and 75,000 tons worth of $ 118 million in the first seven months of this year, increased by 13.1 per cent in quantity and 11.2 per cent in value over the same period of 2016.
The average tea export price in the first half of this year was $ 1,543.8 per ton, down by 2.3 per cent year – on – year.
In the first six months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of tea to Pakistan – the country’s biggest tea export market – accounted for 25.1 per cent of the total market share, down by 17.1 per cent in quantity and 17.3 per cent in value year compared with the same period of 2016
However, the country’s exports of tea to India, the U.A.E and Taiwan increased sharply by 15.8 folds; 2.13 folds and 54.9 per cent, respectively year – on – year in the six months.
Cashew nuts: The exports of cashew nuts were estimated at 34,000 tons worth of $ 355 million in July and 186,000 tons worth of $ 1.83 billion in the first seven months of this year, decreased by 2.2 per cent in quantity but up by 24.2 per cent in value over the same period of 2016.
In the first six months of this year, the country’s exports of cashew nuts to Russia increased sharply by 69.5 per cent; to the Netherlands – up by 38.7 per cent; to the U.S – up by 34 per cent; to Britain – up by 23.1 per cent; to Israel – up by 23 per cent; to Australia – up by 17.7 per cent; to China – up by 12.9 per cent; and to Thailand – up by 12 per cent.
Pepper: The pepper exports were estimated at 19,000 tons worth of $ 87 million in July and 145,000 tons worth of $ 800 million in the first seven months of this year, increased by 20.4 per cent in quantity but decreased by 18.2 per cent in value over the same period of 2016.
The average pepper export price in the first six months of this year was at $ 5,662.6 per ton, down by 29.9 per cent year – on – year.
The leading pepper export markets in the first six months of this year were the U.S, the U.A.E, India, Pakistan and Germany.
Fruit and vegetables: The export value of fruit and vegetables was estimated at $ 360 million in July and $ 2.03 billion in the first seven months of this year, increased by 48.9 per cent year – on – year.
China, Japan, the U.S and South Korea were the leading export markets of fruit and vegetables of Vietnam in the first half of this year with 84.4 per cent of the total market share.
In the period, the country’s exports of fruit and vegetables to the U.A.E increased by 82.3 per cent; to Japan – up by 61.6 per cent; to Russia – up by 54.9 per cent; to China – up by 53.5 per cent; to the U.S – up by 28.6 per cent; to Taiwan – up by 18.9 per cent; to South Korea – up by 12.3 per cent; and to the Netherlands – up by 11.6 per cent.
Cassava and products: The country’s exports of cassava and products were estimated at 255,000 tons worth of $ 62 million in July and 2.28 million tons worth of $ 565 million in the first seven months of this year, down by 1 per cent in quantity and 8.1 per cent in value over the same period of 2016
In the first six months of this year, China was the leading export market of cassava and products with 87.1 per cent of the total market share.
