China is now the country’s biggest import market.

The main items imported by the country from China in the first five months of this year were machines, equipment and spare parts with the import value of $ 4.4 billion, up by 31 per cent year – on – year; computers, electronics and components - $ 2.68 billion, up by 29 per cent; cell phones and accessories - $ 2.67 billion, up by 8.4 per cent; cloth of all kinds - $ 2.4 billion, up by 8.9 per cent; and iron and steel - $ 1.9 billion, up by 16.7 per cent.

In the reviewed period, the country’s imports of rubber from China increased sharply by 115 per cent to $ 41.6 million; seafood – up by 94.3 per cent to over $ 49 million; pesticide and materials – up by 58.7 to $ 222.8 million; pharmaceuticals – up by 55.8 per cent to $ 29.5 million; plastics – up by 47 per cent to $ 353 million; glass and products – up by 42.5 per cent to $ 185.6 million; wood and furniture – up by 41.3 per cent to $ 142.3 million.

However, the imports of CBU autos; animal feed and cotton from China fell by 53 per cent; 17 per cent and 12 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
