Finland donates CHF 48,000 for LDCs’ participation in Ministerial Conference

AsemconnectVietnam - The government of Finland is contributing CHF 48,000 to support the participation of least-developed countries (LDCs) in the eleventh WTO Ministerial Conference (MC11), which will take place on 10-13 December 2017 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: “This donation from Finland will be essential to help the representatives of least-developed countries to attend and effectively participate in the upcoming WTO Ministerial Conference. I warmly welcome Finland's continued generosity.”
Finland's Ambassador, Terhi Hakala, said: “The participation of LDC representatives in the Buenos Aires Ministerial Conference is an important means of ensuring that all WTO members benefit from the multilateral trading system. Finland is very pleased to renew its support for increased participation by LDCs in trade, which will help them raise living standards and achieve economic growth.”
Finland is the first WTO member to donate to the MC11 LDCs Fund this year and has contributed over CHF 13 million to WTO trust funds since 2000.
