It is expected to reach $ 7.4 billion by the end of this year.

In the first four months of this year, Vietnam exported $ 1.05 billion worth of goods to India, up by 35.7 per cent year – on – year.

Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of items exported by the country to India in the first four months of this year with the export turnover of $ 172 million, accounted for 16.4 per cent of the total and increased sharply by 130 per cent over the same period last year. It was followed by cell phones and accessories with $ 158.4 million, up by 37 per cent; ordinary metals and products - $ 148.4 million, up by 92 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 112 million, up by 46 per cent.

In the first four months of this year, the country’s exports of tea to India rocketed by 1,059 per cent over the same period last year to nearly $ 1 million. Meanwhile, the exports of iron and steel increased sharply by 365 per cent; computers, electronics and components – up by 130 per cent; other ordinary metals and products – up by 92 per cent; and cashew nuts – up by 82 per cent.

However, the country’s exports of bamboo, rattan, sedge and carpet products; rubber and pepper to India decreased sharply by 90 per cent; 47.9 per cent and 41.8 per cent, respectively year – on – year.

In the first four months of this year, the country imported $ 1.4 billion worth of goods from India, increased by 64.5 per cent year – on – year. The imports of iron and steel from Japan rocketed by 2,631 per cent to 733,985tons worth of $ 378 million; while the imports of oil and grease increased by 138 per cent; animal feed and materials – up by 113 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts – up by 83 per cent; and fruit and vegetables – up by 81 per cent.
