The country’s exports of fruit and vegetables were estimated at over US$ 1 billion in the first four months of this year, increased by 33.7 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Vietnam exported fruit and vegetables to 23 countries and territories in the world, leading by China. Our potential markets are Japan, South Korea, and the U.S.

The exports of fruit and vegetables to China accounted for over 74 per cent of the total with the export turnover of $ 759.1 million, up by 40 per cent over the same period last year.

Besides, the exports to the U.S reached $ 34.6 million, up by 15.6 per cent; to Japan - $ 31.5 million, up by 51.5 per cent; and to South Korea - $ 30.7 million, up by 12.5 per cent.

In the first four months of this year, the country’s exports of fruit and vegetables to the U.A.E increased sharply by 110 per cent to $ 12.4 million; to Hong Kong – up by over 92.7 per cent to $ 6 million; to Laos – up by 79.5 per cent to $ 2.5 million; and to Japan – up by 51.5 per cent to $ 31.5 million.

However, the exports of fruit and vegetables to Cambodia, Kuwait and the U.K decreased sharply by 83.7 per cent; 53.5 per cent and 43.3 per cent, respectively over the same period last year.
