Vietnam ranked 8th among world’s gold consumers
Monday, May 29,2017AsemconnectVietnam - A recent report by the World Gold Council shows that Vietnam remains one of the countries with the highest gold consumption in the world in the first quarter of this year.
According to the report, Vietnam’s gold demand in the first quarter of this year was nearly 17 tonnes, a slight increase compared to last year. With the figure, Vietnam is ranked eighth among the world’s biggest gold consumers.
In the first quarter, China topped the list of major gold consuming countries with a total of over 280 tonnes in demand, an increase of 8 percent compared to the same period last year. India came second with more than 123 tonnes.
In general, the total demand for gold reached some 1,035 tonnes in the world in the first quarter of this year, an 18 percent decrease against the same period last year.
Vietnam’s gold consumption saw decreases over the years, from nearly 100 tonnes in 2013 to over 58 tonnes in 2016.
