Vietnam –Myanmar trade relationship strengthened
Monday, May 22,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of almost all items to Myanmar saw annual positive growth in the first four months of this year.
In the first four months of this year, the bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Myanmar reached US$ 250.2 million, up by 48 per cent over the same period last year. Of the figure, the country exported $ 191.7 million worth of goods to and imported $ 58.5 million worth of goods from Myanmar, up by 29 per cent and 191 per cent, respectively year – on – year. So the country got $ 133.3 million of surplus in trade exchange with Myanmar in the first four months.
Means of transport and spare parts were the biggest items exported by the country to Myanmar in the reviewed period, accounted for 11.9 per cent of the total with the export turnover of over $ 22.9 million, up by 50.3 per cent; iron and steel products - $ 15.1 million, up by 22.8 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 13.6 million, up by 8.8 per cent; plastic products - $ 13.2 million, up by 64 per cent; ordinary metals - $ 11.1 million, up by 37.7 per cent.
