The country’s exports and imports saw positive growth in the quarter.

The total export turnover reached $ 44.638 billion, up by 15.1 per cent or $ 5.858 billion over the same period last year.

Cell phones and accessories were leading the list of items exported by the country in the first quarter of this year with the export turnover of $ 7.774 billion, down by 6.1 per cent year – on - year. It was followed by textiles and garments with $ 5.623 billion, up by 10 per cent; computers, electronics and components with $ 5.519 billion, up by 47.8 per cent; footwear of all kinds - $ 3.118 billion – up by 11.9 per cent; cameras, camcorders and components - $ 2.906 billion.

The country’s import value totaled $ 46.574 billion in the first quarter of this year, up by 24.9 per cent year – on – year. Machines, equipment and spare parts were leading with the import value of $ 8.071 billion. It was followed by computers, electronics and components with $ 7.603 billion; cell phones and accessories - $ 2.934 billion; iron and steel of all kinds - $ 2.539 billion; cloth of all kinds - $ 2.346 billion.
