Trade relationship with ASEM countries: exports increased

Exports to Russia increased sharply
Vietnam exported US$ 279.1 million worth of goods to Russia in the first two months of this year, increased by 32.05 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The major commodities exported by the country to Russia in the first two months of this year were cell phones and accessories; textiles and garments; seafood; fruit and vegetables; petroleum; and footwear.
Cell phones and accessories were leading the list with the export turnover of $ 146.1 million, accounted for over 50 per cent of the total and increased by 51.63 per cent of the total. It was followed by coffee with $ 18.2 million, down by 24.93 per cent; and textiles and garments - $ 17.8 million, up by 115.49 per cent.
In the first two months of this year, the country’s exports of rice to Russia rocketed by 33,634.7 per cent to over $ 1 million; while the exports of machines and equipment increased by 178.74 per cent; fruit and vegetables – up by 116.71 per cent; and petroleum of all kinds – up by 133.49 per cent.
However, the country’s exports of iron and steel decreased by 83.62 per cent; cashew nuts – down by 5.7 per cent; toys and sport equipment – down by 7.5 per cent year – on – year in the first 2 months.
To date, Vietnam has 20 projects invested in Russia with the total registered capital of nearly $ 3 billion. Russian enterprises also invested in 114 projects in Vietnam with the total registered capital of $ 2.08 billion.
Exports of several items to Singapore rose sharply
Vietnam’s exports of goods to Singapore reached nearly US$ 427.6 million in the first two months of this year, increased by 31.9 per cent over the same period last year, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of items exported by the country to Singapore in the first two months of this year with the export turnover of $ 72.4 million, accounted for 16.9 per cent of the total and increased by nearly 30 per cent year – on – year.
It was followed by means of transport and spare parts with $ 60 million, up by 59 per cent year – on – year; crude oil - $ 49.7 million; glass and products - $ 46.3 million, up by 27.7 per cent; cell phones and accessories - $ 30.8 million, down by 21.6 per cent.
In the first two months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of petroleum to Singapore increased sharply by 130 per cent to $ 10.6 million; ordinary metals – up by 146 per cent to $ 0.9 million; animal feed and materials – up by 74 per cent to $ 0.4 million; textiles and garments – up by 38 per cent to $ 10.1 million.
However, the exports of rice, cashew nuts and pepper to Singapore decreased by 35 per cent; 20 per cent and 23 per cent in value, respectively over the same period last year.
Singapore is the biggest trade partner of Vietnam in ASEAN and the 6th biggest trade partner in the world. Singapore is also the 3rd biggest investor in Vietnam with the total investment capital of $ 37.8 billion.
Trade exchange with Australia totaled over US$ 783 million in 2 months
The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Australia reached over US$ 783.28 million in the first two months of 2017, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the country exported $ 403.54 million worth of goods to and imported $ 379.74 million worth of goods from Australia, up by 4.1 per cent and down by 5.2 per cent over the same period of 2016.
Trade exchange with India increased sharply
The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and India reached US$ 1.1 billion in the first two months of this year, up by 37.8 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the country exported $ 454.4 million worth of goods to and imported $ 630.2 million worth of goods from India, up by 32.2 per cent and 42.1 per cent, respectively over the same period last year.
Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of items exported by the country to India in the first two months of this year with the export turnover of $ 91.4 million, accounted for over 20 per cent of the total and increased sharply by 176 per cent over the same period of 2016.
It was followed by cell phones and accessories with $ 64.8 million, up by 11 per cent; and ordinary metals - $ 61.3 million, up by 78 per cent.
In the first two months of this year, the country’s exports of tea to India rocketed by 1,508 per cent year – on – year while the exports of iron and steel of all kinds – up by 258 per cent; computers, electronic and components – up by 176 per cent; and confectionery and grain products – up by 142 per cent.
However, in the period, the country’s exports of bamboo, rattan, sedge and carpet products; pepper and rubber to India decreased sharply by 83.3 per cent; 46.5 per cent and 48 per cent in value, respectively.
Also in the first two months, the country’s imports of goods from India also increased by over 42 per cent to $ 630.24 million. Of the figure, the imports of iron and steel from India rocketed by 1,661 per cent; fruit and vegetables – up by 148.7 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts – up by 141 per cent; oil and grease – up by 103.7 per cent; animal feed and materials – up by 65.3 per cent.
