Vietnam’s GDP forecasted to reach 6.5-6.7pct this year

 Thursday, March 30,2017

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s GDP growth this year will be 6.5-6.7 percent, according to the latest forecast of the World Bank (WB).

WB experts assess that Vietnam has many opportunities to achieve faster and more competitive economic growth by ensuring macroeconomic stability and pursuing reforms in such areas as state-owned enterprises (SOEs), improving the effectiveness of the financial system and private sector economic development.
However, WB noted that traditional growth drivers such as export-based, cheap labour-based for growth will not last forever. Therefore, Vietnam needs to create the foundation for a new growth engine for the economy. “This depends on the speed of the reform. The workforce needs to be prepared so that they are more agile, in which there needs to focus on developing the skills that the future economy needs. There should have reforms centering on the quality of human resources, there needs to pay attention to human capital, which will determine success not only to 2020 but beyond “, WB recommended.
