Vietnam imported over US$ 164 million worth of fruit and vegetables in the first two months of this year, increased sharply by nearly 54 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In February only, the country spent nearly $ 67.1 million on imports of fruit and vegetables, down by 31 per cent month – on – month.

China and Thailand were the two leading import markets of fruit and vegetables in the first two months of this year, accounted for 70 per cent of the total. In the first two months, the country’s imports of fruit and vegetables from Thailand reached $ 82.6 million while the imports from China reached $ 31.6 million.

Vietnam also exported $ 187 million worth of fruit and vegetables in February and $ 421 million in the first two months of this year, up by 27.3 per cent year – on – year.
