Footwear made up 8.2% of Vietnam’s total exports in January
Monday, March 6,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s footwear exports slightly decreased by 0.7 per cent over the same period last year and by 12.5 per cent over the previous month to nearly $ 1.2 billion showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Footwear ranked fourth in the list of the leading export items of Vietnam after textiles and garments; telephones and accessories; and computers and electronics.
The country exported footwear to 45 countries and territories in the world. The exports of footwear to the U.S accounted for 32.4 per cent of the total with $ 379 million, up by 0.03 per cent year – on – year; and by 16.3 per cent, month – on – month.
The other big markets were Germany, China, Belgium, Japan, the Netherlands and the U.K.
The exports of footwear to Germany reached $ 92.5 million; to China - $ 76.8 million; to Belgium - $ 75 million; to Japan - $ 70.5 million; and to the Netherlands - $ 61.4 million.
In January, the country’s exports of footwear to Ukraine increased sharply by 159 per cent year – on – year; to Portugal – up by 49 per cent; to Indonesia – up by 44 per cent; to Mexico – up by 36 per cent; to Hungary – up by 29.5 per cent. Meanwhile, the exports of footwear to Malaysia, Greece and Italy decreased by 37.8 per cent; 30 per cent; and 22 per cent, respectively.
