Exports of cashew nuts fell in January

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam exported 18,070 tons of cashew nuts worth US$ 164.5 million in 2016, down by 27.2 per cent in quantity and 11.9 per cent in value over the same month of 2016, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The figure was down by 32 per cent, both in quantity and in value compared with the last month of 2016.
The leading cashew export markets of Vietnam in 2016 were the U.S. China and the Netherlands. The exports of cashew nuts to the U.S reached 6,071 tons worth of $ 57.4 million, down by 14 per cent in quantity but 6.8 per cent in value year – on – year.
Meanwhile, the exports of cashew nuts to China reached 3,416 tons worth of $ 31.1 million, down by 41.6 per cent in quantity and 27.6 per cent in value over the same month of 2016; and the exports to the Netherlands reached 2,081 tons worth of $ 19.4 million, down by 26.8 per cent in quantity and 11 per cent in value year – on – year.
