Vietnam – ASEM trade exchange in 2016 : Vietnam got trade surplus

The trade exchange with Russia and Australia increased while that with Poland and Germany decreased slightly.
However, Vietnam got trade surplus with all the following ASEM member countries in 2016
Vietnam – Australia trade exchange increased
The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Australia reached US$ 5.26 billion in 2016, up by 6.5 per cent over 2015, according to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, Vietnam exported over $ 2.87 billion worth of goods to, and imported over $ 2.39 billion worth of goods from Australia, down by 1.7 per cent and 18.3 per cent, respectively over 2015.
Last year, the country’s exports of cameras, camcorders and components to Australia increased sharply by 315.3 per cent; iron and steel – up by 127.1 per cent; textile, garment, leather and footwear materials – up by 89.9 per cent; computers and electronics – up by 59.4 per cent; and non – wooden furniture – up by 47.1 per cent.
Meanwhile, the country’s imports of coal from Australia increased sharply by 143.8 per cent; cotton of all kinds – up by 106 per cent; ores and mineral – up by 93.4 per cent; and fruit and vegetables – up by 132.9 per cent.
Vietnam – Russia trade exchange reached $ 2.7 billion last year
Last year, Vietnam got US$ 491.7 million of trade surplus with Russia.
The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Russia reached $ 2.7 billion in 2016, up by 25.4 per cent year – on – year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the country exported $ 1.6 billion worth of goods to, and imported $ 1.1 billion worth of goods from Russia, up by 12.31 per cent and 50.8 per cent, respectively over 2015.
Telephones and accessories were leading the list of items exported by the country to Russia last year with the export turnover of $ 715.9 million, up by 11.77 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 44.2 per cent of the total. It was followed by coffee with $ 118.4 million, up by 13.95 per cent; and textiles and garments - $ 110.2 million, up by 13.95 per cent.
Especially, the country’s exports of ores and mineral skyrocketed by 1,287.93 per cent last year.
Vietnam got US$ 405.9 million of trade surplus with Poland
Vietnam got US$ 405.9 million of surplus in trade exchange with Poland in 2016, down by 0.9 per cent over the previous year.
Last year, Vietnam exported $ 597.7 million worth of goods to Poland, up by 2.11 per cent year – on – year, and imported $ 191.7 million worth of goods from Poland, up by 9.2 per cent, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Vietnam exported to Poland mostly machine, equipment and spare parts; computers and electronics; textiles and garments, etc, leading by machine, equipment and spare parts with $ 131.3 million, up by 45.93 per cent and accounted for 21.9 per cent of the total. It was followed by computers and electronics with $ 57 million, up by 10.67 per cent; and textiles and garments with $ 44.1 million, down by 1.02 per cent.
Vietnam imported from Poland mostly pharmaceuticals, milk and dairy products, machines and equipment; textile and garment materials, etc., leading by pharmaceuticals with $ 46.9 million, up by 9.62 per cent; and then machines and equipment with $ 34.2 million, up by 0.63 per cent.
Last year, the country’s imports of ordinary metals from Poland fell sharply by 90.94 per cent; while the imports of textile, garment, leather and footwear materials increased sharply by 106.13 per cent year – on - year.
Trade with Germany generated $ 3.1 billion of surplus for Vietnam
The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Germany reached US$ 8.7 billion in 2016, slightly decreased by 1.4 per cent compared with 2015, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, Vietnam exported $ 5.9 billion worth of goods to, and imported $ 2.8 billion worth of goods from Germany, up by 4.45 per cent and down by 11.9 per cent, respectively year – on – year. So in 2016, Vietnam got $ 3.1 billion of trade surplus with Germany.
The country exported to Germany mostly telephones and accessories; footwear of all kinds; textiles and garments; coffee; seafood; machines and equipment, etc., leading by telephones and accessories with $ 1.7 billion, down by 1.12 per cent over 2015 and accounted for 29.2 per cent of the total.
It was followed by footwear of all kinds with $ 764.6 million, up by 8.38 per cent; and textiles and garments - $ 726.2 million, up by 8.38 per cent.
Last year, the country’s exports of iron and steel of all kinds to Germany increased sharply by 156.59 per cent; while the exports of tea to Germany decreased by 64.05 per cent.
