Trade exchange between Vietnam and several Asian countries in first quarter

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first quarter of this year, the bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Asian countries slightly decreased over the same period last year.

 Trade exchange between Vietnam and Malaysia hit US$ 1,625 million in first quarter

The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Malaysia hit US$ 689.4 million in March, slightly decreased by 2.2 per cent over the same period last year, according to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Of the figure, the country exported $ 269 million worth of goods to and imported $ 420.4 million worth of goods from Malaysia. 

In the first 3 months of this year, the trade exchange between the two countries reached $ 1,625 million, down by 9.2 per cent year – on – year. The country exported $ 654 million worth of goods to and imported $ 971 million worth of goods from Malaysia in the period. 

The fall was attributed to the falling exports of crude oil – down by 61 per cent in quantity and 75 per cent in value; cell phones and accessories – down by 34 per cent in value; natural rubber – down by 44 per cent in quantity and 56 per cent in value.

Exports to Thailand also decreased slightly

Vietnam exported US$ 836.1 million worth of goods to Thailand in the first 3 months of this year, decreased slightly by 1.58 per cent over the same period last year, according to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In the first 3 months of this year, the country’s export of cell phones and accessories to Thailand reached $ 230 million, up by 42.71 per cent; that of means of transport and spare parts - $ 73.9 million, down by 16.89 per cent; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts - $ 73.1 million, up by 24.74 per cent; computers, electronic products and components - $ 71.4 million, up by 66.89 per cent.

Vietnam’s export of animal feed and materials to Thailand rocketed by 619.91 per cent year – on – year in the first 3 months of this year.

China was the country’s biggest import market in the first quarter

In the first three months of this year, China was the biggest import market of Vietnam with the import value of US$ 10.4 billion, down by 8 per cent over the same period last year.  Of the figure, the import of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts decreased by 13.1 per cent; cell phones and accessories – down by 18.4 per cent; computers, electronic products and components – up by 2.3 per cent; and cloths – up by 6.6 per cent.

 

 

 
Exports to China saw increase

Vietnam has earned US$ 1.1 billion from export of goods to China in February and $ 2.4 billion in the first 2 months of this year, up by 10.38 per cent over the same period last year. 

In the first 2 months of this year, Vietnam exported 40 kinds of items to China, leading by computers, electronic products and components with the export turnover of $ 337.5 million, up by 4.8 per cent over the same period last year and accounted for 13.8 per cent of the total.
