29 leading export markets of Vietnam in 2015

AsemconnectVietnam - Last year, Vietnam had trade relationship with over 200 countries and territories in the world.

Of the figure, there were 29 leading export markets with the export turnover of US$ 1 billion onward. Those 29 markets accounted for nearly 90.9 per cent of the country’s total export turnover with $ 147.36 billion, according to the information of the General Department of Customs.

There were also 19 leading import markets with the import value of $ 1 billion onward in 2015. Those markets accounted for 90.8 per cent of the country’s total import value with $ 150.42 billion.

China was still leading in the list of the country's leading import markets in 2015 with the import value of $ 49.52 billion, up by 13.9 per cent over the same period of 2014. The major commodities imported by the country from China included machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts with $ 9.03 billion, up by 15 per cent; cell phones and accessories - $ 6.9 billion, up by 8.7 per cent; fabrics of all kinds - $ 5.22 billion, up by 12.1 per cent; computers, electronic products and components - $ 5.21 billion, up by 13.9 per cent.

It was followed by South Korea with $ 27.63 billion, up by 27 per cent year – on – year. The main items imported from South Korea were computers, electronic products and components - $ 6.7 billion, up by 33.5 per cent; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts - $ 5.11 billion, up by 62.6 per cent; cell phones and accessories - $ 3.02 billion, up by 76 per cent; plastic products - $ 1.07 billion, up by 33.7 per cent.

Japan ranked third with $ 14.37 billion, up by 11.15 per cent; then Taiwan with $ 11 billion, down by 0.78 per cent; and Thailand - $ 8.28 billion, up by 16.79 per cent.

The U.S was the country’s biggest export market of Vietnam in 2015 with the export turnover of $ 33.48 billion, up by 16.9 per cent year – on – year. 

The major commodities exported by the country to the U.S were textiles and garments with nearly $ 11 billion, up by 11.72 per cent; footwear of all kinds - over $ 4 billion, up by 22.49 per cent; computers, electronic products and components - $ 2.83 billion, up by 33.68 per cent.

The other big export markets were China and South Korea with the export turnover of $ 16.6 billion and $ 8.93 billion, up by 11.2 per cent and 25.03 per cent, respectively year – on – year.

Last year, the trade exchange between Vietnam and Asia reached $ 214.9 billion, up by 8.9 per cent compared with 2014.

The trade exchange with America hit $ 55.42 billion, up by 18.6 per cent; that with Europe - $ 46.55 billion, up by 9.4 per cent; with Africa - $ 5.11 billion, up by 9.8 per cent; and with Oceania - $ 5.79 billion, down by 16.2 per cent.
