AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported 55,356 automobile of all kinds worth of US$ 1.512 billion in the first six months of this year, rose sharply by 116 per cent in quantity and 179 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

The increase was attributed to the rising automobile imports from China. Vietnam imported 3,522 CBU automobile worth of over $ 136 million in June and 16,925 units worth of $ 653 million from China in the first six months of this year, increased by 265 per cent in quantity and 253 per cent in value over the same period of 2014.

South Korea ranked second after China with 2,190 units valued at $ 66 million imported in June and 11,968 units worth of $ 301 million in the first half of this year, up by 54 per cent in quantity and 168 per cent in value year - on – year.

The imports from Thailand reached 1,820 units worth of $ 29 million in June and 10,135 units worth of $ 172 million in the first six months of this year, rose sharply by 104 per cent in quantity and 112 per cent in value over the same months of last year.
