AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported US$ 1.5 billion worth of wood and furniture in the first eight months of this year, increased sharply by 69.49 per cent over the same period last year, according to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In August only, the country imported $ 194.3 million worth of wood and furniture, up by 23.9 per cent over the previous month. 

Vietnam imported wood and furniture from Laos, Cambodia; the U.S and China, etc, leading by Laos, which accounted for 30.1 per cent of the total and increased by 148.21 per cent year – on – year.

The import from Cambodia reached $ 207.4 million, up by 570.78 per cent; and that from the U.S hit $ 158.8 million, up by 15.52 per cent.
