Coffee exports increased in eight months
Tuesday, October 21,2014AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam exported 1,265,707 tons of coffee worth of US$ 2,617,704,721 in the first eight months of 2014, up by 30.7 per cent in volume and 25.98 per cent in value over the same period last year, according to the statistics figures.
Germany was leading in the list of the country’s major export markets of coffee in the reviewed period with 180,944 tons valued at $ 364,894,860, up by 38.59 per cent in volume and 35.64 per cent in value year – on – year and accounted for 14 per cent of the total.
It was followed by the U.S with $121,308 tons valued at $ 259,512,826, up by 16.34 per cent in volume and 13.9 per cent in value; and Italy with 89,831 tons worth of $ 178,155,37, up by 44.46 per cent in volume and 39.65 per cent in value.
In the first eight months of this year, the country’s export of coffee to Singapore increased sharply by 176.06 per cent in volume and 237.11 per cent in value; that to Belgium – up by 174.95 per cent in volume and 150.36 per cent in value; to Thailand – up by 116.15 per cent in volume and 111.39 per cent in value; and to South Africa – up by 139.83 per cent in volume and 136.1 per cent in value.
However, the export to Mexico, Israel and China decreased.
The average coffee export price in the first 8 months of this year was at $ 2,068 per ton, down by 3.59 per cent year – on – year.
