Vietnam’s exports of items leading in turnover in first eleven months of 2019

Vietnam’s exports of phones and accessories in first eleven months of 2019
Telephones and components were the leading group in terms of turnover of Vietnam's export groups.
According to calculations from the General Department of Customs (GDC), phones and components were the leading group in terms of turnover of Vietnam's exports in the first 11 months of 2019, accounting for 20.1 per cent of the total export turnover. Merchandise exports of the country, reaching approximately 48.53 billion USD in the first 11 months of 2019, an increase of 5 per cent over the same period of 2018. In particular, in November of 2019, the country’s exports of phones and accessories reached 4.5 billion USD, down by 13.8 per cent compared to the previous month and down by 5.7 per cent compared to November of 2018.
Leading export markets of phones and components
The EU was the largest consumer market for Vietnam's phones and components, with 11.67 billion USD in the first 11 months of the year, accounting for over 24.1 per cent of the country's total telephones and components export turnover, decreasing by 7.1 per cent over the same period of 2018. The US market ranked second in turnover, reaching 8.45 billion USD, accounting for 17.4 per cent, up sharply by 62.5 per cent; followed by China with 7.36 billion USD, accounting for 15.2 per cent, down by 12.4 per cent; South Korea - 4.9 billion USD, accounting for 10.1 per cent, up by 18.1 per cent; the U.A.E 3.31 billion USD, accounting for 6.8 per cent, down by 8.9 per cent.
Vietnam’s exports of computers, electronics and components saw growth
Vietnam’s exports of computers, electronics and components in the first 11 months of 2019 reached 32.39 billion USD.
The exports of computers, electronic products and components of the whole country in November of 2019 reached 3.27 billion USD, down by 7.1 per cent compared to the previous month but up by 29 per cent over the same period of 2018. Generally, the total export turnover of this commodity group in the first 11 months of 2019 reached 32.39 billion USD, accounting for 13.4 per cent of the total export turnover of all types of goods of the whole country, up by 20.2 per cent over the same period of 2018, according to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs (GDC).
Particularly, the exports of foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) reached 28.91 billion USD, accounting for 89.3 per cent of the total turnover, up by 12.3 per cent over the same period of 2018.
Leading export markets of computers, electronics and components
China market ranked first in consumption of Vietnam's computers, electronics and components, accounting for 26.2 per cent of the country's total export turnover of this group, reaching 8.47 billion USD, up by 10.7 per cent over the same period last year; the second largest market was the US with 5.37 billion USD, accounting for 16.6 per cent, a very strong increase of 103.5 per cent over the same period last year; then the EU market with 4.3 billion USD, accounting for 13.3 per cent, down by 6.7 per cent; while the exports to Hong Kong reached 2.71 billion USD, accounting for 8.4 per cent, up by 30.7 per cent.
Vietnam’s exports of footwear exports saw good growth
Export of footwear in the first 11 months of 2019 increased by 13 per cent over the same period of 2018, reaching 16.55 billion USD.
According to the figures from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of footwear to foreign markets increased for the second consecutive month, in October of 2019 it increased by 20.4 per cent, in November of 2019, it increased by 6.9 per cent, reaching 1.7 billion USD. As comparison to November of 2018 it also increased by 11.6 per cent. Generally, the exports of this commodity group in the first 11 months of 2019 increased by 13 per cent over the same period of 2018, reaching 16.55 billion USD.
Leading footwear export markets
The leading footwear export markets of Vietnam with the export turnover of over 1 billion USD included the US, EU, China and Belgium; in which the exports to the US reached over 5.96 billion USD, accounting for 36 per cent of the total export turnover of this group of the country, up by 13.3 per cent compared to the first 11 months of 2018. The exports to the EU market reached over 4.54 billion USD, accounting for 27.5 per cent of the total, up by 8.3 per cent. The exports to China reached 1.63 billion, up by 20.8 per cent over the same period last year, accounting for 9.9 per cent of the total turnover; to Belgium reached 1.05 billion USD, up by 20.2 per cent over the same period, accounting for 6.4 per cent.
