Trade exchange with Thailand and Myanmar in eight months

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam’s trade exchange with Thailand reached US$10 billion.

However, the country got trade deficit of over US$3.8 billion.
Meanwhile, the trade exchange with Myanmar reached only $595.54 million in eight months, but we had trade deficit of $399 million.

Vietnam exported $3.727 billion worth of goods to Thailand

Thailand is now the biggest and the first trade partner of Vietnam in ASEAN that had the bilateral trade exchange of US$10 billion with Vietnam in the first eight months of this year.
In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam exported $3.727 billion worth of goods to Thailand, increased by 21 per cent over the same period of 2017.

Telephones and components were the leading item exported by the country to Thailand in the period with the export turnover of $996 million, accounted for 26.7 per cent of the total.
In the period, the exports of iron and steel products to Thailand increased sharply by 75.14 per cent year – on – year; iron and steel of all kinds – up by 64.26 per cent; and computers, electronics and components – down by 10.83 per cent.

Especially, in the first eight months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of coal and petroleum increased by over 2 times year – on – year to $16.8 million and $45.1 million, respectively.
Also in the first eight months of this year, Vietnam imported $7.543 billion worth of goods from Thailand, increased by 14.3 per cent over the same period last year.
By the end of August, Vietnam imported $437.3 million worth of autos and $402.8 million worth of auto components from Thailand.

US$399 million of surplus in trade exchange with Myanmar
In the first eight months of 2018, the bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Myanmar reached US$ 595.54 million showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Of the figure, the country exported $497.2 million worth of goods to; and imported $98.2 million worth of goods from Myanmar. So the country got $399 million of surplus in trade exchange with Myanmar.
In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of iron and steel products to Myanmar increased by 2.1 times or 113.33 per cent over the same period last year to $81 million; while the exports of iron and steel of all kinds reached 29,800 tons worth of $21.1 million, up by 59.33 per cent in quantity and 77.47 per cent in value over the same period last year.

Besides, the exports of textiles and garments to Myanmar increased by 58.09 per cent to $16.6 million; and the exports of plastics – up by 45.92 per cent to $4.2 million.
