Exports of seafood increased in first 7 months
Wednesday, August 15,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of seafood reached nearly US$4.73 billion in the first seven months of this year, increased by 7.9 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
EU was the country’s biggest seafood export market in the first seven months of this year with the export turnover of $816.18 million, up by 16 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 17.3 per cent of the total.
It was followed by the U.S with $793.35 million, up by 0.4 per cent; and then Japan - $734.49 million; up by 4.1 per cent; China - $555.61 million, up by 2.3 per cent; and South Korea - $458.87 million, up by 15 per cent.
The exports of seafood to the South East Asian countries accounted for only 7.8 per cent of the total with $366.49 million, up by 13 per cent year – on – year.
In the first 7 months of this year, the country’s exports of seafood to Cambodia increased sharply by 88.6 per cent to $14.06 million; to the U.A.E – up by 75.7 per cent to $48.86 million; to Egypt – up by 61.6 per cent to $25.67 million; to Pakistan – up by 53.2 per cent to $13.11 million; to India – up by 51 per cent to $16.47 million.
However, the exports of seafood to Saudi Arabia decreased by 62.4 per cent year – on – year to only $14.06 million; and to Indonesia, Czech, Brazil and Denmark decreased by 40.9 per cent; 33.2 per cent; 31 per cent and 26.6 per cent year – on – year.
