Seafood exports saw growth
Thursday, June 21,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam earned US$ 3.21 billion from seafood exports in the first five months of this year, increased by 12.4 per cent over the same period last year, according to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Japan was leading the list of the country’s seafood export markets in the first five months of this year with the export turnover of $ 497.04 million, accounted for 15.5 per cent of the total and increased by 4.9 per cent over the same period last year.
The U.S ranked second with the export turnover of $ 492.14 million, up by 1.6 per cent; and then China - $ 396.54 million, up by 17.2 per cent; South Korea - $ 313.71 million, up by 19.4 per cent year - on - year.
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of seafood to Cambodia increased sharply by 95.7 per cent to $ 10.17 million; to Egypt - up by 91.7 per cent to $ 17.4 million; to Pakistan - up by 85.9 per cent to $ 11.94 million; to the U.A.E - up by 64.2 per cent to $ 32.7 million; to the Netherlands - up by 63 per cent to $ 126.16 million; to Portugal - up by 60 per cent to $ 24.37 million.
However, the exports of seafood to Saudi Arabia; Indonesia; Czech; Brazil and Denmark fell sharply by 48 per cent; 44.5 per cent; 35.1 per cent; 32.1 per cent and 27.2 per cent, respectively year - on - year.
