In July, Vietnam imported 566,100 tons of fertilizer worth of US$ 149.9 million, increased sharply by 56.1 per cent in quantity and 54.9 per cent in value compared with the previous month, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

 

The figure brought the country’s total imports of fertilizer in the first seven months of this year to 2.9 million tons worth of $ 790.8 million, up by 25.8 per cent in quantity and 21.1 per cent in value year – on – year.

 

China was leading the list of the country’s major fertilizer import markets in the first seven months of this year with 1.1 million tons worth of $ 286.1 million, up by 32.13 per cent in quantity and 3.49 per cent in value over the same period last year.

 

Russia ranked second with 430,700 tons worth of $ 129.7 million, increased sharply by 132.26 per cent in quantity and 104.6 per cent in value.

 

Japan ranked third with 152,700 tons worth of $ 19.6 million, up by 52.42 per cent in quantity and 44.62 per cent in value.

 

In the first seven months of this year, the country’s imports of fertilizer from the Philippines increased sharply by over 2 folds in quantity and in value compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, the imports of fertilizer from Thailand fell sharply by 56.74 per cent or 14,100 tons.
