According to the latest statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in July, Vietnam imported only 6,940 autos worth of US$ 166.7 million, down by 11.2 per cent in quantity and by 2.6 per cent in value over the previous month.

Of the figure, the imports of autos from Thailand fell by 17.8 per cent; from China – down by 2.5 per cent; from South Korea – down by 19 per cent; and from the U.S – down by 25.3 per cent; but the imports from Indonesia – up by 17 per cent. 

Thailand was leading the list of auto import markets of Vietnam in July with 2,688 units worth of $ 46.76 million. 

The imports from Indonesia reached 2,108 units worth of $ 37.42 million.

Meanwhile, the imports from France reached 3 units worth of $ 1.69 million.

The imports of autos from Russia in July rocketed by 16 folds in quantity and 5.5 folds in value compared with June with 32 units worth of $ 768,000.

In the first seven months of this year, Vietnam’s total imports of autos reached 57,835 units worth of $ 1.2 billion, down by 4 per cent in quantity and 16 per cent in value year – on - year.
