Exports of fruit and vegetables increased sharply
Wednesday, July 26,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of fruit and vegetables in the first six months of this year were nearly equivalent to the total exports of 2015 (US$ 1.84 million).
The country exported $ 1.67 billion worth of fruit and vegetables in the first six months of this year, increased sharply by 44.4 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
China was leading the list of 23 biggest export markets of fruit and vegetables of the country in the first six months of this year with the export turnover of $ 1.25 billion, accounted for 74.9 per cent of the total and increased by 55.4 per cent over the same period last year.
It was followed by Japan with $ 56.54 million, up by 60.8 per cent; the U.S - $ 53.6 million, up by 26.4 per cent; South Korea - $ 49.8 million, up by 11.5 per cent; and the Netherlands - $ 31.11 million, up by 11 per cent.
In the first six months of this year, the country’s exports of fruit and vegetables to Hong Kong increased sharply by 102 per cent to $ 9.9 million; to the U.A.E – up by 81 per cent to $ 19.29 million; to Laos – up by 78.6 per cent to $ 4.68 million; and to Russia – up by 54.6 per cent to $ 16.2 million.
However, the country’s exports of fruit and vegetables to Cambodia, Indonesia and the U.K decreased sharply by 81.8 per cent; 53 per cent and 42 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
The total exports of fruit and vegetables are expected to reach over $ 3 billion this year.
