AsemconnectVietnam - After returning from a 10-day training camp in Japan on September 10, the Vietnamese U19 men’s football team worked up a sweat in Hanoi as they are preparing for an upcoming friendly tournament in Qatar.
The team will train in Hanoi for three days, before flying to Qatar on September 14 to compete in a tournament from September 16-22, where they will play the U19s of Qatar, Uruguay and the Ivory Coast.
Head coach Hoang Anh Tuan said the friendly tournament is an opportunity for the Vietnam U19s to gain more experience by facing strong teams and will prepare them for the 2018 AFC U19 Championship finals.
The 2018 AFC U19 Championship finals are set to get underway from October 18 to November 4 in Indonesia, featuring 16 teams. Vietnam’s U19 squad is in Group C with Australia, the Republic of Korea and Jordan.
The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Poland next year.
