Museum receives memorabilia relating to President Ho Chi Minh
Friday, August 31,2018AsemconnectVietnam - The Ho Chi Minh Museum has held a ceremony to receiving memorabilia relating to the late President.
The event on August 29 was also to honour individuals who donated and shared documents, objects and souvenirs relating to President Ho Chi Minh, as well as to thank collectives and agencies for their help in preserving and promoting the late leader’s heritage.
The museum received more than 80 memorabilia such as the red neckerchief President Ho Chi Minh gave to Dinh Ngoc Thi in 1966. The 56-year-old man served as head of the Young Bamboo Shoots Duy Vien Co-operative, a group of Young Pioneers founded in 1958.
Other objects include a pistol the President granted to Health Minister Hoang Tich Tri (1903 - 1958), four letters President Ho Chi Minh sent to the Minister, and a painting of President Ho Chi Minh by Bulgarian painter Stefan Petrov in 1957. Petrov met President Ho when he paid Bulgaria a State visit in 1957.
When the painter passed away, his family preserved the painting.
Last year, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh Museum attended an exhibition on the President in Bulgaria and met Petrov’s family. The painting was then handed to the museum as a sign of respect from Petrov’s family in particular and Bulgarian people in general.
Vu Manh Ha, Director of the museum, said the donated objects enriched the exhibits of the museum.
“We appreciate a lot that these donated memorabilia give more stories and information about the life and career of the President,” he said.
“We want to collect, preserve and promote the value of objects relating to President Ho Chi Minh at home and abroad.”
