Vietnam officially wins rights to broadcast ASIAD 2018
Wednesday, August 22,2018AsemconnectVietnam - The Vietnam Television Corporation (VTC), a subordinate unit of the Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV), on August 21 announced that it has earned the right to broadcast all sporting events within the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018.
The deal with KJSM World Corp was reached with the support of property developer Vingroup and Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group.
From August 22, Vietnamese audiences can watch all games of Vietnam during the ASIAD 2018 live on VTC channels, or smart phones and smart TV through the firm’s app VTC Now, or at its online newspapers at vov.vn and vtc.vn.
They can also listen to live narration of all sporting events on VOV radio channels.
On August 20, VOV started the process of purchasing ASIAD broadcasting rights. However, the company owning the rights in Vietnam is located in the US, making it difficult for the two sides to conduct direct discussions until the afternoon of August 20.
The deal between the two sides was signed and announced in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 21 after successful negotiations on August 20 evening.
The ASIAD 2018 has entered the third competing day on August 21. So far, Vietnam has ranks 16th in the medal tally with two silver and four bronze medals.
Notably, Vietnam’s male football team qualified for the next round after gaining all group matches.
