HCM City to host classical music extravaganzas
Wednesday, August 15,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Around 20 prominent international artists will perform at three special concerts at the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) on August 18 and 19.
The concerts are among a series of activities held within the framework of the Vietnam Connection Music Festival in the city.
The concert on August 18 night entitled “Stephanie Chase and Friends” will see performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor staged by US artist Stephanie Chase, one of the most renowned violists in the world, and Vietnamese renowned violist Bui Cong Duy.
In addition, Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Violins in B Minor will be delivered by Stephanie Chase, Zhan Shu, Hoang Linh Chi and Chuong Vu.
Meanwhile, the Quatour Arod, a young string quartet from France, will play Haydn’s Quarter Number 3 “The Rider”, Benjamin Attahir “Al’Asr”, and Schumann’s String Quartet No.1 in the afternoon of August 19.
Finally, a gala concert on August 19 night will be dedicated to concertos for multiple instruments, which will see the presence of Stephanie Chase, Bui Cong Duy, and Canadian violist Christina Bouey.
Vietnam Connection Music Festival was co-founded in 2015 by Chuong Vu, one of outstanding Vietnamese-American musicians, and Bui Cong Duy, an internationally acclaimed Vietnamese concert violinist. The festival brings distinguished international artists as well as accomplished Vietnamese musicians who live abroad to collaborate with excellent Vietnamese artists in the performance and teaching of classical music.
Through cultural exchange activities, the festival aims to bring classical music closer to the public.
In the 2018 season, the festival will present a total 11 concerts in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.
