Hoi An memories show smashes two records
Wednesday, March 21,2018AsemconnectVietnam - The Hoi An Memories show, which debuted on March 18 at Hoi An Impression Theme Park in the central province of Quang Nam, has set two Vietnamese records.
The event set records as the country’s largest ever outdoor visual arts performance and the daily show with the most actors ever.
The Vietnam Record Organisation (VietKings) recognised the show’s records on March 19.
The colourful and musically dazzling night show, with a cast of nearly 500 actors and actresses, recalls the memories of Hoi An as a prosperous trading port over 400 years.
The theatre uses the waters of the Hoai River as its 25,000-sq.m stage along with state-of-the-art lighting technology and sophisticated sound effects, said Dao Quang Tung, a representative of the show producer.
More than 100 girls in Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) on stage tell the story of the charming beauty of Vietnamese women and the lives of locals.
It took nearly two years to produce the one-hour show which runs every night and is expected to attract more than 3,000 guests per show, he said.
The show is part of a creative cultural and arts programme that aims to introduce the culture and history of historic Hoi An town to tourists, said historian Duong Trung Quoc, a member of the show’s consulting team.
This contemporary art form, which has been performed in many countries, increases the number of night entertainment activities for tourists when they visit Hoi An, Quoc said.
The show is a key component of the Hoi An Impression Theme Park that will open in the second quarter of this year. The 10-hectare theme park in Hoi An includes indoor and outdoor theatres, shopping and entertainment complexes, and 200 hotel rooms
