In the first six months of this year, Vietnam exported 151,337 tons of cashew nuts worth of US$ 1.47 billion, down by 3.2 per cent in quantity and 21.4 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In June only, the country exported 34,516 tons of cashew nuts worth of $ 354.04 million, up by 4.3 per cent in quantity and 7.4 per cent in value month – on – month.

The average cashew export price in the first six months of this year was $ 9,721 per ton, up by 26.3 per cent over the same period last year.

The U.S was still leading the list of the country’s cashew export markets in the period with the export turnover of $ 543.3 million, up by 33.3 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 37 per cent of the total.

It was followed by the Netherlands with $ 222.5 million, up by 37.6 per cent; and China - $ 177.2 million, up by 11 per cent.

In the first six months of this year, the country’s exports of cashew nuts to Belgium increased sharply by 93 per cent to over $ 9 million; to Russia – up by 69.5 per cent to $ 23.5 million; to New Zealand – up by 32.4 per cent to $ 11.8 million; and to India – up by 29 per cent to $ 17.3 million.

However, the exports to Greece decreased by 61.7 per cent; to the Philippines – down by 33.8 per cent; and to Pakistan – down by 43.3 per cent.
