Seafood exports increased 7.5% in first 5 months
Monday, June 26,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s seafood exports totaled US$ 2.76 billion in the first five months of this year, increased by 7.5 per cent over the same period last year.
Last year, the country’s exports of shrimp saw growth of 6.7 per cent. But in the first five months of this year, the exports of shrimp increased by only 4 per cent year – on – year to $ 1,145 million.
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam’s Tra output reached 465,900 tons, up by 11 per cent. The exports of Tra fish in the first five months of this year increased slightly by 2.4 per cent to $ 665 million as rising exports to China, Brazil and Mexico.
Meanwhile, the exports of tuna reached $ 216 million, up by 20 per cent year – on – year; and the exports of squids and octopus reached $ 199 million, up by 39 per cent.
Vietnam exported squids and octopus to 43 markets, leading by South Korea, ASEAN and Japan.
