Digiworld reportedly boasts a distribution network of over 6,000 stores in the nation's 63 cities and provinces. Under the agreement, Nokia mobile phones will be delivered on a broad scale, meeting user demand quickly and efficiently, as part of HMD Global’s plan to expand its supply chain in Vietnam.

Earlier, the HCMC-based supplier had teamed up with Microsoft, a former maker of Nokia-branded mobile phones, to distribute the phones.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Kyler Tan, general director of HMD Global Vietnam, said one out of four mobile phones sold to users is a Nokia-branded unit. Data from the market research firm GfK shows that Nokia had gained a 25% market share during the year up to July, including smartphones and feature phones.

Meanwhile, Digiworld posted strong revenue growth of some VND1.3 trillion in the second quarter of the year, up 72% year-on-year thanks to the strong sale of mobile phones and office equipment, with the corresponding rates of 345% and 52%.

In addition, during January-June, mobile phones alone made a remarkable contribution to Digiworld’s revenue, at nearly VND1.2 trillion, helping the firm hit this year’s target ahead of the deadline.
