The model, which was previously deployed in two residential areas, can reduce the burden on hospitals, enhance the healthcare system and provide high-quality healthcare services for local residents, according to Hoan My.

A plan for developing and executing the FDC model in the 2016-2020 period by the Ministry of Health has received the green light to expand to many more areas, said Dr. Pham Le An, head of the Family Medicine Training Center at the HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

As of the end of June, the first FDC at Lexington Residence in the city’s District 2 had been in operation for a year, serving some 350 local residents monthly and providing treatments for over 50 emergency patients as well as promptly carrying out patient transfers. A second clinic, launched at the Masteri Thao Dien in December last year, welcomes 250 arrivals each month for medical checkups and treatments and handles emergency cases for the local residents and those in neighboring areas.

The healthcare staff of these two clinics have been praised by the patients and their relatives on the delivery of efficient treatment.
