Because the quarrying always causes noise and dust, the application of cleaner production solutions to decrease costs and waste into the environment is the vital option for enterprises to maintain their operations here.

Being aware of the issue, the whole production process of Hai Binh Co, Ltd has been applied with simultaneous techniques and production lines, resulting in quite high production efficiency with 97 percent of the raw stones transformed into finished products. Most of production phases were handled by skillful workers under strict working disciplines, helping to raise labor productivity and limit the negative impact on the environment. The production space of the company is relatively large about 3.5 ha but quite neat and clean.

In a survey on environmental issues conducted by the Thai Nguyen Industry Promotion and Development Consultancy Center, Hai Binh Co, Ltd was evaluated as to have a quite good management status, especially in terms of labor safety discipline. For example, staffs have increased awareness over efficient electricity and water usage, stipulated by reward and punishment forms. The company has applied advanced technologies to ensure material loss are at their lowest level possible, with about 1.03 tonnes of stone making one tonne of finished stone of different kinds.

To treat the wastewater, the company has adopted biological wastewater treatment solutions through the septic tank system. The wastewater after treatment flows to the common water discharge system of residential group 3, Chua Hang Town, Dong Hy District. As for solid waste, domestic solid waste is collected then burnt or treated by functional agencies. The solid wastes arising after the production stage such as crushed bricks, tiles and stones are also collected and then sold to other businesses to be used as materials for building roads.

Thanks to applying all the mentioned solutions, not only the production materials were efficiently used, but the surrounding environment has also been ensured as the monitored wastewater and exhausted fumes near the quarry all met standard requirements. The content of hazardous gas such as CO, NO2 and SO2 are below standard levels, while the wastewater was also within the allowed limits of the National technical standards on the wastewater quality.

In the coming time, Hai Binh Co.,Ltd will continue to adopt a number of solutions such as regular maintenance of pipe, pump and valve systems, more careful sifting of the raw stones, avoid pouring them directly on the ground; investing in easy to transport and covered containers; synchronous maintenance and upgrading of the old devices that could cause electricity loss. These solutions will not only provide a clean environment, but also higher economic efficiency by decreasing the loss of raw materials and fuel.
