Samsung Pay allows for transactions by Smart Watch

AsemconnectVietnam - Apart from smartphones, the smart watch Gear S3 of Samsung now allows Samsung Pay subscribers to make payments without a bank card, a representative of Samsung Vina Electronics Co Ltd said on May 16.

Users can easily make a payment using Gear S3 connected to a cell phone which was pre-installed with Samsung Pay app. Samsung Pay also enables holders of Shinhan Vietnam Bank cards to withdraw money from ATMs without having to use a card.

Samsung Pay users can also conduct transactions with cards of Agribank, Techcombank, TPBank, SeABank and Woori Bank Vietnam, and other international Visa and Mastercard cards which are issued by any card-issuing firm in Vietnam.

According to Samsung Vina, expanding cooperation with 15 banks and three card switching enterprises to date has created favorable conditions for more users to experience mobile payment.

Samsung Pay launched in September 2017 is Vietnam’s first mobile payment system with one touch only. After its six-month operation, Samsung Pay has attracted some 400,000 subscribers with 500,000 successful transactions totaling VND350 billion conducted.

Kim Cheol Gi, general director of Samsung Vina, said Vietnam with 72% of the population owing smartphones and over 150 million cards issued to date has great potential for the mobile payment system to grow.
