Trade exchange with some ASEM countries in first 5 months
Wednesday, June 28,2017AsemconnectVietnam - In the first five months of this year, the bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and several ASEM countries such as India, South Korea and Australia strengthened.
Especially, the country’s exports of goods to those countries increased sharply over the same period last year.
Vietnam exported nearly US$ 5.5 billion worth of goods to South Korea
The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and South Korea increased sharply. South Korea is now the fourth biggest export market of Vietnam after China, the U.S and Japan; and the biggest investor in Vietnam.
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam exported nearly US$ 5.5 billion worth of goods to South Korea, increased by 30.8 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Cell phones and accessories were leading the list of items exported by the country to South Korea in the first five months of this year with the export turnover of $ 1.42 billion, up by 33.5 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 25.8 per cent of the total.
It was followed by textiles and garments with $ 891.8 million, up by 16.6 per cent; and computers, electronics and components with $ 724.8 million, up by 62.4 per cent.
In the first five months of this year, the country’s exports of glass and products to South Korea increased sharply by 341 per cent to over $ 34 million; rubber – up by 141 per cent; iron and steel of all kinds – up by 87.7 per cent; ordinary metals and products – up by 90 per cent; chemicals – up by 73.8 per cent; petroleum – up by 67.4 per cent; coffee – up by 62.6 per cent; computers, electronics and components – up by 63.4 per cent.
However, the exports of cameras, camcorders and components decreased by 47 per cent; fertilizer - down by 28 per cent; animal feed and materials – down by 17.7 per cent.
Vietnam – Australia trade exchange totaled $ 2.4 billion
The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Australia totaled US$ 2.4 billion in the first 5 months of this year, increased by 22 per cent over the same period of 2016, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the country exported nearly $ 1.4 billion worth of goods to; and imported nearly $ 1.1 billion worth of goods from Australia, up by 24.6 per cent and 19 per cent, respectively over the same period last year.
Cell phones and accessories were leading the list of 33 major items exported by the country to Australia in the period with the export turnover of $ 333.4 million, up by 20.8 per cent year – on – year.
It was followed by computers, electronics and components with $ 141 million, up by 42.7 per cent; crude oil – nearly $ 90.6 million, up by 2.3 per cent; footwear of all kinds - $ 89.8 million, up by 22.9 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 72.1 million; and textiles and garments - $ 68.5 million.
In the first five months of this year, the country’s exports of machines, equipment and spare parts to Australia increased sharply by 228 per cent to $ 66 million; iron and steel – up by 193 per cent to $ 24.7 million; chemical products – up by 77 per cent to $ 9.4 million; machines, equipment and spare parts – up by 58.5 per cent to $ 72.1 million; non – wooden furniture – up by 54.4 per cent to $ 12.1 million.
Vietnam’s exports to India increased sharply
The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and India in the first four months of this year increased sharply by 50.9 per cent over the same period last year to US$ 2.5 billion, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
It is expected to reach $ 7.4 billion by the end of this year.
In the first four months of this year, Vietnam exported $ 1.05 billion worth of goods to India, up by 35.7 per cent year – on – year.
Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of items exported by the country to India in the first four months of this year with the export turnover of $ 172 million, accounted for 16.4 per cent of the total and increased sharply by 130 per cent over the same period last year. It was followed by cell phones and accessories with $ 158.4 million, up by 37 per cent; ordinary metals and products - $ 148.4 million, up by 92 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 112 million, up by 46 per cent.
