Saigon Sundries Investment and Trading JSC: Affirming the position in foreign trade
Monday, May 8,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Not starting from the idea of a successful company, with a never-surrendering effort and determination, Saigon Sundries Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company (Tocontap Saigon JSC) has achieved success beyond expectations.
An enterprise like Tocontap Saigon JSC, established in 1956 when the idea of starting and shaping a business was not popular - rose up strongly to affirm its name and important role in the foreign trade sector of Vietnam.
From the early days of establishment, Tocontap Saigon JSC had confirmed its important role in the industry and trade sector of Vietnam as it was one of 13 import and export enterprises in the country, specialised in trading, importing and exporting essential commodities like household goods, leather footwear and rubber. At that time, the company carried out barter contracts with Eastern European countries as assigned by the Government.
In 1989-1990 when Vietnam started opening up international cooperation, Tocontap Saigon JSC expanded its import-export business and diversified its exports in order to effectively catch opportunities from the opening trend of the country. The company expanded into other key exports such as handicrafts, garments, agricultural products and seafood. In addition, the company made into new export markets in Asia, the United States, Canada and Australia; built garment and textile factories in Vietnam to further boost its exports to the world.
In the next 10 years, Tocontap Saigon JSC continued to step into manpower export (particularly to Japan), housing and office development, warehousing development, and educational support services. In addition to the Japanese market, the company also exported manpower to other markets such as Macau, Taiwan and Cyprus. Furthermore, Tocontap Saigon JSC succeeded in supplying highly skilled human resources to developed countries such as the United States, Australia and Canada.
Relating to the Japanese market, the company currently manages 1,300 labourers working in garment, seafood processing, food processing, mechanics, industrial packaging, construction and agriculture. Most these labourers are working across Japan, mainly in Hokkaido, Yamagata, Chiba, Tokyo, Shizuoka, Okayama, Tochigi, Osaka, Hyogo and Tottori. The company’s success has generated many jobs for Vietnamese workers, but also promoted Vietnam-Japan cooperation through labour export.
In construction, Tocontap Saigon JSC completed the TDH-Tocontap residential area covering 17,000 square meters in 2016. The project improved the environment and landscape in Phuoc Long Ward, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City.
Ms Le Thi Thanh Huong, President and General Director of Tocontap Saigon JSC, said, in the next development stage, especially Vietnam’s integration into the global economy, Tocontap Saigon JSC will continue to boost its strengths with the motto “Focusing on promoting export, strengthening and improving labour export and stabilising production”. Specifically, in rice export, the company will focus on fragrant rice, produce and distribute organic mushrooms. Last but not least, Tocontap Saigon JSC will continue to expand its cooperation with Japanese partners to meet Japanese healthcare standards for the elderly in the nursing home model.
