Thaco starts work on auto manufacturing plant
Wednesday, March 29,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Truong Hai Auto Joint Stock Company (Thaco) on March 26 commenced work on the Thaco-Mazda automobile manufacturing plant with total capital of VND12 trillion, or around US$527 million.
He said the plant would be equipped with automatic and semi-automatic production lines with the application of state-of-the-art technology from Japan and European countries. Thaco’s strategic partner Mazda Japan will transfer technology to and offer technical assistance for the new facility.
Notably, robots will be used to control over 70% of assembly work. Besides, the testing line will be equipped with modern technology facilities connected to the global technical information system of Mazda.
He added Thaco is striving to become Vietnam’s leading auto manufacturer. Therefore, the company has developed auto production and assembly, and has gained a sharp competitive edge against world-famous auto manufacturers in the country.
To date, the enterprise has gradually mastered designs, employed modern technologies and increased localization ratios of its various auto models ranging from 18% to over 50%.
