Viettel expands 4G coverage nationwide
Monday, March 20,2017AsemconnectVietnam - As of March 16, the military-run telecom group Viettel had set up nearly 18,000 4G base transceiver stations (BTSs), bringing the technology to 704 districts in 63 provinces and cities.
This means they have covered 99% of the total localities in Vietnam after only four months of its launch.
Viettel said it has also provided 4G network to around 6,300 communes nationwide including remote, mountainous and border gate areas. Specifically, more than 100 districts in the border areas in 25 provinces including Loc Binh, Muong Nhe, Sin Ho, Meo Vac and Quan Ba had access to the 4G network.
It is expected that by the end of this month, the telecom provider would have more than 7,300 4G BTS to bring the total to 28,000 BTS nationwide. This could help ensure the best quality 4G.
With 4G, customers can enjoy speeds that are 7 to 10 times higher than 3G. Earlier, Viettel Telecom – a subsidiary of Viettel provided free 4G SIM cards to its users ahead of the launch of its 4G network.
