Tra Vinh Sugar Company: Continuously improving product quality
Friday, February 27,2015AsemconnectVietnam - Tra Vinh Sugar Factory was formerly the Linh Cam - Ha Tinh Sugar Factory, which was reallocated to Tra Vinh province in November 2000, and August 13, 2001, the Linh Cam Sugar Factory was officially renamed to Tra Vinh Sugar Company. The company became a highlight in the rural and agricultural industrialization and modernization programme.
Tra Vinh Sugar Company started production in Tra Vinh from the 2001 - 2002 crop and continuously made outstanding achievements both in production and business. After building Tra Vinh Sugar Factory, the province’s People's Committee decided to make intensive investments in the factory, specially a processing line with a daily capacity of 1,500 tones sugarcane. At present, the capacity has been raised to 1,800 tones per day. In the following years, the processing capacity will be scaled up to 3,000-3,500 tones of sugarcanes.
Since the company built the material zone, Tra Vinh Sugar Company has always supported sugarcane growers. Hence, investments and supports have continuously increased. In the 2009-2010 crop, apart from offering seedling sugarcanes, fertilizers and off-take contracts, the company lent VND17 million per hectare of completely new crops to farmers and VND9 million per hectare of supplementary planting, according to the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV). Farmers will be supported VND300,000 - 1.2 million per hectare if they return to growing sugarcanes, depending on the status. According to Mr Tran Dinh Trung, Director of Tra Vinh Sugar Company, the company will maintain sugarcane growing area of 5,000 - 6,000 hectares to ensure stable supply of 6,000 tones a day. The sugarcane productivity is 100 - 120 tones per hectare.
In the coming time, to expand the operating scale, Tra Vinh Sugar Company will focus on expanding the material sugarcane area to 7,000-8,000 hectares and replacing lower-yield varieties with higher-yield ones. At the same time, the company will invest in supplementing synchronous modern equipment to improve product quality. More importantly, the company will conduct research on new sugarcane varieties, boost sugar sales, research and develop new products. The firm will also strengthen relationships with farmers to create a stable supply of raw materials to become a leading sugar producer in the Mekong Delta region.
