Samsung’s new flagship smartphones made in Vietnam

 Thursday, March 1,2018

AsemconnectVietnam - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd launched a new line of flagship smartphones, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at World Mobile Congress 2018 in Barcelona, Spain on February 26. These devices were made at the company’s two plants in Vietnam.

This is the first time the South Korean tech giant has dispatched eight staff members at its two plants in the northern provinces of Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen to the event. These workers are directly on the assembly line of Galaxy S9.

Samsung has heavily invested in Vietnam to turn the Southeast Asian nation into a hub in its global production value chain. To date, it has injected over US$17 billion into its Vietnam plants, creating jobs for more than 160,000 locals.
A source said these plants make half of Samsung’s cell phones exported to 128 countries and territories.
The brand-new smartphones are slated to be available in some select markets, including Vietnam, starting March 16.
