The conference was held by brand management consultancy MiBrand Vietnam and UK-based independent branded business valuation and strategy consultancy Brand Finance, according to a Vietnam News Agency report.

Around 100 representatives of leading Vietnamese brands such as VNPT (Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group), Vinaphone, The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World Investment Corporation), MobiFone, Vinhomes and Vietnam Airlines took part in the event.

The event was meant to help local enterprises have a better understanding of their brand equity, and facilitate the growth of Vietnamese brands, said Lai Tien Manh, director of MiBrand Vietnam.

Manh added Brand Finance and MiBrand Vienam are working on a long-term program to help firms create brand values in an effective manner.

The program is to raise awareness about the significance of intangible assets, develop international-standard tools for measuring brand values, give advice on marketing campaigns in a bid to position brands successfully and improve competitiveness, he explained.

Samir Dixit, Brand Finance managing director for Asia-Pacific, said the majority of local companies care more about boosting sales through marketing rather than branding.

He regarded brand as a key business asset that influences competitiveness and profit for shareholders. Therefore, it requires more investment.

The two consultants honored Vietnam’s Top 50 Brands of 2017 with Viettel topping the list, followed by Vinamilk (Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company), VNPT, Vinhomes, and Sabeco (Saigon Beer-Alcohol- Beverage Corporation).
