Indian PM starts visit to three Southeast Asian nations
Wednesday, May 30,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on May 29 on the first leg of his tour to three Southeast Asian countries.
The visit aims to enhance relations between India and the three countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
During his stay in Indonesia, PM Narendra Modi will meet with President Joko Widodo, Indonesian senior officials and Indian communities in Indonesia.
The next stop in his tour is Kuala Lumpur where he is due to have talks with new Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
In Singapore, PM Modi wants to boost bilateral cooperation in financial technology, skills development, urban planning and artificial intelligence.
The two countries’ leaders are expected to discuss business opportunities and investment potential.
On June 1, PM Modi will have a meeting with Singaporean President Halimah Yacob and hold talks with PM Lee Hsien Loong before delivering a speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue.
