Vietnam greatly values comprehensive partnership with US

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam places great importance on strengthening comprehensive partnership with the US and always considers the US an important partner in its foreign policy,President Tran Dai Quang has said.

At a May 28 reception in Hanoi for US Senator Cory Gardner, Chairman of the US Senate’s Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy, the Vietnamese State leader praised the senator’s contributions to the US’ relations with the region as well as with Vietnam for peace, stability, cooperation and development while expressed his hope that the senator to continue helping the ties between the two nations to grow and flourish in the future.
Quang also expressed his delight at the marked improvement in Vietnam – US comprehensive partnership across all fields as shown through talks and meetings between senior leaders, particularly the State visit to Vietnam by President Donald Trump and the official visit to the US by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc last year.
President Quang hailed the positive development of bilateral parliamentary ties, adding that Vietnam welcomes visits of more US congressmen who seek to get deeper insights into Vietnam’s culture, land and people and will serve as a bridge for the promotion of Vietnam-US cooperation.
He also asked the US to boost exports to the Vietnamese market so as to improve their trade balance, and clear trade barriers to facilitate Vietnamese goods’ penetration into its market. 
Quang suggested both nations expand their mutual consultations and information exchange at international and regional forums and within the UN framework, especially on issues of mutual concern.
Vietnam attaches importance to economic, trade and investment cooperation with the US and wishes to cooperate on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, Quang told his guest.
He also said that he and President Trump discussed measures to boost economic and trade ties between the two countries in the coming time.
He proposed the US Congress support the grant of funds and soon sign a non-refundable aid agreement to carry out a decontamination project at Bien Hoa airport while stepping up cooperation on bomb and mine clearance, assistance to Agent Orange victims and search for Vietnamese soldiers missing during the war.
He greatly appreciated the important role of the US in maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and asked the two sides to bolster cooperation in regional institutions, focusing on enhancing the central role and maintaining ASEAN unity, and promoting the ASEAN-US strategic partnership effectively.
For his part, Cory Gardner informed Quang that during his visit, he planned to have working sessions with Vietnamese agencies to examine ways to propel Vietnam – US ties forward.
Senator Cory Gardner applauded the achievements in socio economic development Vietnam has recorded over recent years and stressed that his nation always desires to increase cooperation with Vietnam across a variety of fields such as  politics - diplomacy, economics - trade, and security - defense.
He commended Vietnam’s stance on ensuring peace, security and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea.
As the US Senator of Colorado, he introduced his state’s strength in the environmental sector and showed his willingness to bridge cooperation between Colorado and Vietnam in environmental protection and climate change response. 
He said he supports free trade and increasing Vietnam – US collaboration in mitigating Agent Orange impacts and clearing post-war bombs and mines and searching for Vietnamese soldiers missing in the war.
