Such information is contained in the joint statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vietnam's President Tran Dai Quang made after their talks in the Kremlin.

"An agreement was reached to deepen cooperation and expand the oil and gas exploration and production zone on Vietnam's continental shelf in strict compliance with 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea," the joint statement says.

The leaders give positive assessment to implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas sphere and intend "to create favorable conditions for operations of Russian and Vietnamese discipline companies," the statement says.
